Strzelecki National Park

south of Whitemark, Flinders Island, Flinders Island TAS 7255

Granite peaks rise straight from the sea at the southern end of Flinders Island, largest of the Furneaux Group in Bass Strait. The park is crowned by Mount Strzelecki, whose summit walk climbs through forest and heath to sweeping views over the archipelago. Below, white-sand beaches and turquoise bays fringe the coast around Trousers Point. Managed by Tasmania's Parks and Wildlife Service, it is reached by air or barge to the island and then a short drive south of Whitemark; a parks pass is required.
