Coastal Walk
Killiecrankie Bay
Killiecrankie, Flinders Island, TAS, TAS
A north-facing bay about half an hour's drive from Whitemark on Flinders Island, backed by huge granite boulders and clear, sheltered water. The low-gradient white-sand beach stays calm in its western corner, good for swimming, beachcombing and boating, and the foreshore has picnic tables, a gas barbecue and a public toilet. The bay is best known among fossickers for 'Killiecrankie diamonds', topaz washed into the sand and shallows. It sits on the largest island of the Furneaux Group, off Tasmania's north-east.
