Mount Field National Park

66 Lake Dobson Rd, National Park TAS 7140

Tasmania''s oldest national park with tall swamp gums, alpine tarns, and the iconic three-tiered Russell Falls.

Know before you go

A valid Tasmania parks pass is required. Russell Falls is reached on a wide, very easy track that suits wheelchairs and prams. Higher up it is a different park: the road to the Lake Dobson car park is 16km of winding gravel beyond the entrance, and snow can mean chains are needed or the road is closed — ring 03 6288 1149 for road conditions before you drive up. Tarn Shelf is at its best in autumn when the fagus turns.
