A dramatic lookout perched on the rim of a 275-metre deep gorge in northern Tasmania offering vertigo-inducing views straight down to the Leven River far below. The forested slopes of the canyon walls create layers of green stretching to the horizon. A staircase of 697 steps descends to the canyon floor for those wanting a closer look at the ancient forest below. The lookout itself is easily accessible from the car park making it suitable for all visitors.
Know before you go
The lookout is an easy 5-minute walk. The 697-step descent to the canyon floor is very steep and requires good fitness for the return climb. Safety barriers protect the cliff edge at the lookout.
