Perched high above the savanna woodlands of Kakadu National Park, Gunloms infinity-edge plunge pool offers one of the most spectacular natural swimming experiences in Australia. The pool sits atop a waterfall with sweeping views across the ancient landscape. A moderate climb rewards visitors with a series of rock pools and panoramic vistas.
Swimming in the bottom plunge pool is strictly prohibited and there is no access to it — crocodile management is ongoing. What is open is the top of the falls: a steep 15 to 20 minute climb on the new track to the natural infinity pools, reached after Gunlom reopened on 1 July 2026 following a six-year closure over a nearby sacred site. High-clearance 4WD only. Stay inside the fenced areas and follow the safety signage. A Kakadu park pass is required.
