Ubirr Rock Art

Ubirr, Border Store Road, Kakadu National Park

One of the finest Aboriginal rock art galleries in the world perched atop a sandstone escarpment in Kakadu National Park. The art spans tens of thousands of years depicting animals, hunting scenes, and spiritual beings including the famous Rainbow Serpent. The walk climbs to a panoramic lookout over the Nadab floodplain which is especially spectacular at sunset when the wetlands glow golden. A profound cultural and natural experience.

Know before you go

Arrive well before sunset to allow time to view the rock art galleries before climbing to the lookout. Bring insect repellent for mosquitoes at dusk. Treat this as a culturally significant site.
