St Columba Falls

St Columba Falls Road, Pyengana TAS

In the green dairy country of the north-east near Pyengana, St Columba Falls is one of the highest and most reliable waterfalls in Tasmania, a ninety-metre cascade fed by the wet forests of Mount Victoria. A short, well-made path descends through tree ferns and myrtle to a viewing platform at the base, where the spray drifts cold off the falls. The drive out passes the Pyengana cheese factory and the Holy Cow cafe, making an easy and rewarding half-day from St Helens. The falls run hardest in winter and spring.
