Six Foot Track
A 42km, three-day walk from Katoomba to Binda Bush cabins, following the route surveyed in 1884 as a six-foot-wide horse track between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. Drops down through the Megalong Valley, crosses the Cox's River on the suspension bridge, then climbs the Mini-Mini Range. Kanangra-Boyd National Park and state forest in between. Currently terminates at Binda Bush while Jenolan Caves remains closed. Managed by Crown Lands NSW. Trip intention form recommended.
Check tide times before starting. Carry at least 2 litres of water per person. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, not thongs. Sun exposure is intense along the coast. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. Bring adequate water and wear appropriate footwear.
