Royal National Park Coast Track

Coast Track Trailhead, Cnr Eric Street and Beachcomber Avenue, Bundeena

A 26km coastal walk through Royal National Park between Bundeena and Otford, typically tackled over two days. Sandstone escarpments, heath country, hidden beaches at Marley, Wattamolla, Garie, Burning Palms, North Era. Past Eagle Rock and Curracurrang Falls, the heritage shacks at Era and Burning Palms, the Palm Jungle. No drinking water along the route. Whale watching from May to October. North Era is the only legal overnight camp. Trains from Sydney serve both ends — Otford and Cronulla for the Bundeena ferry.

Know before you go

Check tide times before starting. Carry at least 2 litres of water per person. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, not thongs. Sun exposure is intense along the coast. This is a challenging experience requiring good fitness and preparation. Allow extra time and carry emergency supplies.
