Queens Park and Botanic Gardens

43-73 Lindsay Street, Toowoomba QLD

More than 25 hectares of State Heritage-listed parkland in the middle of Toowoomba, laid out from the 1870s and split between the Botanic Gardens, Vera Lacaze Memorial Park and the greater park. The botanic section runs to rose walks, camellia gardens, cycads and palms, seasonal bedding displays and a Wollemi pine, under an avenue of camphor laurels planted in 1885 and a cypress avenue from 1875. Playgrounds, sports ovals, barbecues and picnic shelters fill the wider park, which has served the self-styled Garden City since the late 1800s.
