The traditional country of the Jawoyn people featuring 13 gorges carved by the Katherine River through ancient sandstone.
Know before you go
An NT Parks Visitor Pass is required. Swim only in designated areas: freshwater crocodiles live here year-round and saltwater crocodiles can enter the gorge system in the wet, so rangers survey the river and remove any before it opens to swimming and paddling. Expect closures through the wet season, roughly November to April, when access and swimming holes can shut at short notice.
