Mon Repos Turtle Centre
Mon Repos Conservation Park, Mon Repos QLD
On the Woongarra coast 14 kilometres east of Bundaberg, Mon Repos Conservation Park supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland and the most significant loggerhead nesting population in the South Pacific region. The Turtle Centre is the hub: interpretive displays, a theatre telling the loggerhead story through film, light and sound, a café, and ranger-guided programs — no captive turtles are kept. In turtle season, ranger-led Turtle Encounter tours head onto the beach at night to watch nesting and hatching. By day the park's beach, walking tracks and shared walking-and-cycling trail are open to everyone.
