A 30-hectare site on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, first planted between 1954 and 1957 at the request of then Governor-General Sir William Slim, who wanted an improved northerly view from Government House. Gazetted in 2001 and named for forest scientist and botanist Lindsay Pryor, it is managed by the National Capital Authority for recreation, research and education.
