A broad, still reach of the Cudgegong River in Wollemi National Park, pooled behind Kandos Weir since the late 1920s and ringed by pagoda rock formations and scribbly gum woodland. Canoeists and swimmers work the calm water, and the Pagoda Lookout track climbs above the river for long views over the formations. The wildlife list runs from purple swamphens and long-necked turtles to greater gliders and platypus. A bush campground takes tents, camper trailers and caravans; bring drinking water and firewood.
