Florence Falls Pool
A double-drop waterfall at the eastern edge of Litchfield National Park, falling into a sandstone plunge pool ringed by paperbarks and monsoon forest. The lookout above gives the best view; the 135 steep steps down lead to the swim. The Shady Creek Walk loops back to the carpark through the forest. Florence Camp sits at the top. Closes to swimming through the Wet Season for crocodile management. Sealed-road access year-round.
It is 160 steps down to the plunge pool, or a 1km walk through monsoon forest on an uneven cobbled path if you would rather not take the stairs. The falls run year-round, but swimming closes through the wet season while saltwater crocodile risk is assessed, and the site reopens only after rangers survey it. Check the park's closure list before you set out.
