A natural artesian hot spring in the remote Simpson Desert. The large warm pool sits amid arid desert landscape at the edge of Witjira National Park.
Know before you go
Access is 4WD only, out past Oodnadatta and a long way from anywhere — Witjira sits about 887km north-west of Port Augusta. You need a vehicle entry pass, or a Desert Parks Pass if you are taking in more of the desert parks. The main pool is over 160m long and nearly 12m deep; the water rises at about 42°C and sits around 36–38°C where you get in, so it is a warm soak rather than a cooling one.
