Croajingolong National Park, Mallacoota VIC

In the far east corner of the state toward the New South Wales border, Croajingolong is one of the great wilderness coasts of the country - a biosphere reserve of unbroken forest, heath, inlet and beach running for a hundred kilometres. Remote and lightly visited, it holds the historic Point Hicks lighthouse, long empty beaches, and rich forests loud with birds. The Wilderness Coast walk traverses it for the well-prepared. Getting there takes commitment, and that is the point: this is coast as it was, wild and whole and gloriously empty.
